1997 - COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

BOWIE G. MARTIN, P

I want to thank you for allowing me to serve as your Commander! As we celebrate our squadron's 25th anniversary (and my 25th year in the squadron), we have a lot of work to do. We are well on our way with a record turnout for our public boating class, very active Seamanship and Piloting classes just completed, and a large number of courses now scheduled later in the year. Our bridge meetings are well attended and productive, and our family nights are enjoying great participation. We ranked 2nd in the district in new members!

Boating education is a major focus. In order to do the job well, we must increase our membership. A large number of our public boating class students come from referrals from squadron members, so the more members we have, the more referrals. Educated boaters are safe boaters. They make the water a safer place to enjoy our favorite recreation.

We have more hard working members in the squadron than I can remember in the squadron's history. These hard workers are both seasoned members and new members; they make an ideal mix to make us an outstanding squadron ready to do outstanding service.

I want to thank you for your support. For the very active workers, I salute you! For those of you that have limited time and can not participate actively, I sincerely thank you for your financial support of continuing your membership.

Please participate with us when your time allows.
