2008 - COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
Kendall M. Cranston, AP
It has been over 12 years since I
took the Boating Course from our Squadron at the Community College.
The years start to roll around more quickly as I get older and the
last year has been unusually fast as I have been preparing to assume
the position as your 37th Commander. I look forward to this
year. Although we have had some bumps in the road with the loss of
a few key members, those officers that have stepped up to assume
offices and positions are more than qualified to plan and implement
another great year for the Rocky Mount Power Squadron.
This past year has been an active
year under the leadership of Commander Steve Boshart. We have had
a variety of rendezvous locations, great socials, and a strong
program of education marked by many members achieving higher rank
(including two new JN’s.)
Virtually everything I have learned
about boating has come from the Power Squadron courses and the
people in the Squadron. We have a range of education courses that
cover a wide variety of boating skills needed by new and experienced
boaters. We have members that have great knowledge and experience
that they are eager to share with others. The Squadron is a
valuable resource and we need to make sure as many people as
possible know about what they can gain from membership in the Rocky
Mount Power Squadron. I want to work this year to re-build and
increase the membership. We have a great story and a great Squadron
and I’m proud to be a part of it in 2008.
Safe Boating!
