Webmaster’s note:

Shrewsbury Member and ASEO John Gage , Passed away quietly on Saturday evening June 19, 2010. All the members of Shrewsbury squadron and many in D-4 recall John for his monumental cicumnavigation from 2004 -2007 at the age of  72-75 years "young, and wish him "fair winds and calm seas" at his passing.

John gave many presentations to members both before and after his cruise. He inspired all who heard his presentations to enjoy each day and try to make your dreams come true.  John was serving Assistant Squadron Educational Officer (ASEO) of Shrewsbury Power Squadron at the time of his passing.

Welcome Home John Gage!

Shrewsbury Power Squadron member, John Gage completed his 3 yr. around the word sailing trip on his 42 ft sailboat, “DreamCatcher”.
This has been a life long dream of John's, which he has made come true.
The squadron got together to welcome him home on May 12th, 2007.
A few of our larger boats went out to meet him while other members joined in as passengers.

Squadron members, family and friends met at the Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy
Among some of the awards presented were an award from Shrewsbury Power Squadron,
a Certificate from District 4, and a Certificate of Recognition signed by (then) Acting Governor Codey.
Our Squadron was excited to have the homecoming event covered on the local news.
In addition, John's voyage was written up in Ocean Navigator Magazine.
It is believed that John may be the world's oldest person to circumnavigate the world.
Congratulations and Welcome Home John!
