Squadron Boating Activities

 Do you have a boat? Does your friend have a boat?

 Do you want to be involved in activities that let you use your boat?

Also, as part of a National Organization you are welcome to participate

 in any other squadron’s activities.

Members from other squadrons are also welcome to participate.

Your friends are welcome too!

 

Cruise up the Hudson

Mid June, Ed Thomas (Bumps) and several other members often cruise up to Croton Harbor (Half Moon Bay) on the Hudson River, that weekend is the longest daylight day of the year and celebrate Summer's arrival with a raftup on Saturday. If you'd rather be in a secure slip, there is Haverstraw Marina and Half Moon Bay Yacht club both nearby. Call Ed to say you want to hook up with his fleet (732-229-6800)email: shoreview@aol.com.

Fireworks Cruise

 In July, go for a short spin on the Navesink River. The weekend of July 4th, SPS goes to the Fireworks and we raft up near Red Bank to enjoy friends and food and fireworks. Ask Ed Thomas exactly where they'll set up the raft before you go. (732) 229-6800. email: shoreview@aol.com.

 

District 4 Raft up in Red Bank (North)

 June 27 & 28, 2008, there will be a District wide Raft-up at Irwin’s Marine, Red Bank.

This exciting weekend will feature:

Slips at three Marinas all within walking distance to the town on Red Bank.

Rafting in the Navesink River with shuttle launch service to Red Bank.

Blocked rooms at the beautiful Molly Pitcher or Oyster Point Hotels

 

Friday evening Squadron Commanders reception and Cocktails.

Saturday afternoon dock party.

 

8 hour Boating Safety Course open to the public.

Vessel Safety Checks by our members for Marina occupants.

.

And many other events still in the planning stages.

Members are also welcome to come by car and make new friends.

You will find that your fellow members will welcome you aboard their boats.

District 4 Rendezvous (South) in Atlantic City, NJ

On August 1- 3 2008, District 4 (D/4) is organizing an Atlantic City Rendezvous at the Senator Frank S. Farley Marina (Trump Marina)

As always, it will be a fun weekend and Atlantic City is a world class entertainment mecca.

There is something for everyone including gambling, restaurants, the beach, shopping and the famous boardwalk.

This year District 5 will also be joining us in this eventCheck back for more information and make your reservations

 

Do you have another favorite cruise destination you don’t see listed here?  

We are in need of Cruise Captains to “take charge” of the various cruises.

You don’t need to be an “old salt” to do this but you do need to commit to making a few phone calls and being there on the designated dates of the activity.

Think about it. New members are encouraged to participate and it’s a great opportunity to interact with other Shrewsbury Power Squadron members.
