HOW TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP

Welcome to the USPS and the Shrewsbury Power Squadron.
Hopefully, this website will give you an idea of what we are all about and answer some
of the most commonly asked questions.
We sincerely hope that you will consider taking advantage of the social,
educational and volunteer activities that the squadron has to offer.

2011 Year SPS/USPS Current Dues

Some of the activities that we participate in are:

-A Picnic/Barbeque for our families at a private facility at Sandy Hook.
-Boating Activities organized by our squadron and District.
-Dinners provide an off-season opportunity to get-together.
-USPS Founders' Day celebration with Hors d'oeurves and Beverages at a member's home.
-  4 Membership Meetings a year.
-A Free Pasta Family Night Dinner in December for our Member's and their families.

Civic Service Activities such as providing
-Vessel Safety Checks.
- The NJ Safe Boating Class.
- Representing the squadron at local boat shows.

Educational Classes for Member's taught by fellow Members.
- Sail, Weather, Cruise Planning, Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics.
- Seamanship, Piloting, Advance Piloting, Navigation.

 

Membership in the United States Power Squadrons® (USPS®) is by application.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, pass an exam approved by USPS and based
on thePUBLIC

 BOATING COURSE

, and be accepted by the SPS Executive Committee.

Boat ownership is not a requirement of membership.
The squadron does not discriminate and those interested in learning more about boating, serving our community and making friends are encouraged to apply.

Members promote safe boating through education.
The Squadron offers low cost courses ( Public Boating Course) on basic boating and safe boat handling to the public wishing to obtain their NJ Safe Boating Certificates

,as well as advanced course on boat handling and navigation to squadron members.
