District 28 Squadrons
 

   OUR PURPOSE?  Whether you’re an old "Salt" or a novice, whether you own a boat or don’t, if you want to learn more about seamanship, you’ve come to the right place and it’s free! The San Luis Rey Power Squadron (SLRPS) is a unit of the "United States Power Squadrons®" which has over 35,000 members throughout the country. We are dedicated primarily to education of both active and prospective boaters in all aspects of seamanship and safety. Want to learn more about boating safely  and have a great time doing it? We invite you to explore this site whether you sail, motor or just want to learn all about seamanship skills consider joining in today with some good fun people all the while learning all about safely navigating the oceans and lakes around us. It is not necessary for you to own a boat everyone is welcome.

   Organized in 1914 USPS® is a non profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching seamanship classes , navigation and other related subjects. Each squadron's activities involve the three primary objectives of the USPS 
1. Community service 
2. Continuing education 
3. Enjoying friendship and camaraderie of our fellow members

   Squadrons are organized into individual Districts. San Luis Rey (SLRPS) is part of District 28 along with five other squadrons making up the Southern California and Arizona chapters. Ours along with all the other districts in turn all report to the National Power Squadrons® Organization.

   Many of our members are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. We enjoy participating with our fellow members on the water and in the classroom. USPS has nearly 40,000 members organized into over 400 squadrons across the country and in some US territories. USPS is America's largest non-profit boating organization and has been honored by three US presidents for its civic contributions.
