Shallotte River Sail and Power Squadron
Here are some of the programs that our Sister Squadron is running this year. Southport Members are welcome to attend them.

Electric is Steve Pfaff. Steve is a lead meteorologist at the Wilmington Office
of the Weather Bureau which is part of NOAA.. He is head of Marine Forecasting
and very interested in improving our local marine forecasts! He will speak about
the big NOAA bouys off of Edisto Beach 65 nm south of Charleston SC, the brand
new one at Frying Pan Shoals (off of Bald Head Island near rhe
existing tower), and at Cape Hateras. NOAA works in cooperation with
UNCW's Coastal Ocean Research and Monitoring Program (CORMP) which has deployed
four real time weather and oceanographic bouys in Onslow Bay off of the east
facing beaches which run north and then northeast from Cape Fear.
NOAA also is in cooperation with NC State and the University of South Carolina
with new bouys and weather sites at fishing piers etc. Steve will put all of
this together!
Steve's tel # at work is 910-762-4289 ext 420. Currently he is working the
midnight to 0800 shift.
This will be a great program for our squadron. South Port SPS, Shallotte River
FishN Fun Club, Holden Beach Fishing Club, Cape Fear Yacht Club, and USCG Aux
