Commander Jack

Commander's Message:

April 2012

The sun rises and the sun sets. Sometimes we can see one but not the other or neither. At any rate I find myself at the end of my extended term as your commander of the Spokane Sail & Power Squadron. I wish to thank my Bridge officers and committee people for their efforts during the year. A great group effort by the whole squadron.

Our dinners have been top drawer, along with the excellent speakers that held our attention to a variety of subjects. Thanks again to those who worked at the Spokane Boat Show. We had fun at all of our 2011 outdoor activities - from Sprint Boat races and the Wooden Boat Show to weenies and buns in our clubhouse front yard to a cruise on Lake Pend Orielle and the wine and river cruise from Templins in Post Falls, ID. If you missed out last year, I am sure you will have an opportunity to catch many of this type of event this coming year.

At our upcoming dinner meeting on April 10th, we'll be electing a new Bridge and General Members of the Executive Committee. Here is the slate presented by our squadron Nominating Committee:

Then come join together for the Change of Watch on April 28th at Post Falls Templin's Red Lion Hotel, an evening with the District 16 Commander Travis Smith and Liz and District Executive Officer John Sherrick and Kathy as our special guests. Our newly elected Bridge for 2012-2013 will be Installed by D/C Smith. (See page 7 of the Lubber Line for details.)

I ask that you keep open the week of May 19-25 for National Safe Boating Week. We are working with the Northtown Mall for space to have a boating class and the visit of the robot PFD Seagull riding on a PWC to entertain the young at heart. (See page 3 of the Lubber Line for details.)

Thank you all for putting up with me this past year. I was privileged to be your Commander. Bless you all.

Cdr Jack
