Public Boating Course

 

The Tar River Sail and Power Squadron offers a 'Public Boating Course' that is open to the general public.

The Public Boating Course fee is $40 per person.

The Public Boating Course provides essential information for every type of boater including inboard, outboard, sail, personal watercraft, anglers, and hunters.

Course topics include:

  1. Boat Handling and Seamanship,
  2. Needed Equipment,
  3. Rules of the Road,
  4. Lines and Knots,
  5. Charts and Aids to Navigation,
  6. Engine Troubleshooting,
  7. Boat Trailering, and much more.

The course concludes with a certified exam and certificate that can be presented to many insurance agencies for boating insurance discounts ranging between 10-25%
