TRSPS Social Functions |
While the main objective of the
Tar River Sail and Power Squadron and the United States Power Squadronsâ is to
promote safe boating through community education, a result of that community
involvement is increased social activities, new friendships and great fun on
and off the water. While helping members increase their boating skills, TRSPS
activities encourage civic contributions through social activism and voluntary
efforts. The direct result is a squadron of members who delight in gathering on
and off the water for social activities and great fun. It's not surprising ours
is a rapidly growing squadron!
The six major Tar River Sail and Power Squadron social events
during the year are:
|
Change of Watch (February) |
Installation of new officers and committee chairmen |
|
Spring Social |
On the water picnic and social for family and friends |
|
Summer Cruise & Rendezvous |
Summer boating raft up, locations vary |
|
August 'Summer Riverfest' |
Landlubbers social and annual fund raiser |
|
Fall Social |
On the water picnic and social for family and friends |
|
Christmas Party |
Landlubbers fun, fellowship, and holiday festivities |
Regular Tar River Sail and Power Squadron
meeting and program are held each month except July. Typically, these dinner
meetings are held the second Wednesday at various restaurants in Greenville,
NC. Each month's location is announced on line and in the "Tar
Paper". Members are encouraged to bring guests if they wish. Attire is
informal at all meetings except the annual TRSPS Change of Watch. This is a
formal dinner meeting, which ends the watch of one bridge (squadron officers
and committee chairmen) and starts the next. A cocktail party that gives
members a chance to catch up with each other after the winter precedes it. The uniform
for this meeting is Uniform A with bow tie or equally suitable civilian attire.
Formal invitations are sent to all members and guests and the meal must be
prepaid.
