All classes will be held 6:30-9:30 P.M. at White Bluff Presbyterian Church, 10710 White Bluff Road, unless noted otherwise.

 

 

March

Special! Mini Seminars at Savannah’s Boat and Outdoor Show—Tybee Light will present two 30-minute seminars at this year’s boat show. Planning is underway to have one session for children and another for show-goers of all ages. Stay tuned for news as we approach the date and plan to invite your boating and non-boating friends!  The seminars will be free, as a civic service.  Contacts: Robert Hale & Steele King.

 

America’s Boating Course—Offered as a    4-session course on Thursday, March 21, 28, April 4, 11. Price: $60pp; $30 for family members sharing a text; free for accompanied youth ages 12-17.  Instructor: P/C Dave Sapp.

Þ How to Use a Paper Chart—Thursday, April 18. Price: $10.  Instructor: P/C Ron Lynch.

Þ Using GPS—Friday, April 19.  Price $15.  Instructor: Cdr. Dennis Cusanelli.

Þ Tides & Currents—9 A.M.-12 P.M., Saturday, April 27, at the Skidaway Island Southside Fire Department on McWhorter Road. Price: $10.  Instructor: Jack Huber.

 

May

Special! National Safe Boating Weekend of Seminars—All day Saturday, May 18, and Sunday afternoon, May 19. Planning is underway to offer up to 10 seminars over a two-day period.  Under consideration are: 

 

Þ Classroom only—How to Use a Paper    Chart · Knots, Bends & Mariner Hitches · Mastering Rules of the Road · Tides & Currents · Using GPS · Using VHF/DSC Radio

Þ Classroom with optional on-the-water training (at a later date)—Anchoring · Trailering · Onboard Weather Forecasting · Partner in Command

 

June

Seamanship—Offered as a 5-session course on Tuesday, June 11, 18, 25, July 2, 9. Price:  $76pp, $25 more for family sharing a text.  Instructor: Cdr. Dennis Cusanelli. Optional on-the-water boat handling training is included for all Seamanship graduates.
