Next Squadron meeting- TBD

Recent past meetings:
8 Feb 17 -
The meeting was held at the Fieldstone Inn (5986 S Transit Road, Lockport). The Commander updated us (14 present) on recent events. He then presented George McKinney with a certificate & a lapel pin honoring his 50 years of membership in USPS. A picture is on the photo page.
15 Sep 16 -
Meeting held at the Olcott Yacht Club to update members on the status of the upcoming merger. The Commander discussed the status of legal steps proceeding toward dissolution/merger. The Treasurer reported that there was just over $3000 in the checking account and CDs.
An inventory of squadron equipment is to be done to determine what we will transfer to the new group and what we will donate elsewhere. Possible donations were discussed to various groups. When the merger is in the final stages, a decision will be made.
It is going to take several months for the merger to occur. We will then all transfer into Swiftwater squadron. Swiftwater will then change its name to reflect the combined squadrons and create a new burgee.

18 Jun 16 -
A special membership meeting was held at Olcott YC. At the meeting, a motion was made and passed, that the Squadron shall undertake the process of merging with those other Western New York squadrons who also choose to merge.
5 Nov 15 -
13 members enjoyed meeting at the Herschell Carousel Museum in North Tonawanda for a tour, including a ride on the carousel & seeing a number of other exhibits. The group then had dinner at Payne's restaurant. We were honored that P/R/Cs Priscilla & George Clarke attended from Swiftwter Squadron.
6 May 15 - 10 members met at 5:45 PM at the Buffalo National Weather Service Station on the airport grounds. Judy LeVan, of the Weather Service, described their work, provided a brief tour of the facility & answered our questions. She then took us to watch the 7 PM launch of a weather balloon carrying a radiosonde, which provides weather data as a function of altitude. All present agreed it was a fascinating experience. Those who chose to stay moved to a local restaurant for dinner.
28 Jan 15 - Founders' Day Dinner & meeting was held at the Fieldstone Restaurant.  Cary Tyler, was our speaker.  Cary is a Niagara County Marine Deputy, a yacht surveyor, and active with the WNY Antique Boat Society. If you were not among the nearly 2 dozen attendees, you missed a great talk & discussion on boating safety and law enforcement from a true "insider".
21 May 14, 6 PM- 7 PM, we wish to thank the United State Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 3-1 in conjunction the United Sates Coast Guard, New York State Fire Training Officials, and Niagara Fire Extinguisher Company for conducting a live demonstration and fire extinguishment training session at the Niagara Coast Guard Station located in Youngstown, NY. A number of our members participated in the hands-on training.
7 May 14, at Wilson House. Lisa Stevens, Past Commodore of the Wilson Yacht Club and a member of the Wilson committee working to dredge Wilson Harbor, described the realities of the  project. Legislator Dave Godfrey and Allyson Zurawski, of Daigler Engineering, joined Lisa to provide both technical info & financial needs to get the project moving. 24 people attended the meeting & presentation, along with a good dinner.
22 Feb 14, Sean Patrick's Restaurant, we & members of Hamburg Squadron shared Founders' Day with Swiftwater Squadron, who arranged the meeting. About 30 people enjoyed a fine dinner, followed by reading of proclamations from 2 area mayors & a meeting where the Squadron Commanders honored their workers who received merit marks.
5 Jan 14 at the Buffalo Maritime Center
. In spite of a snowstorm, 5 hardy members attended the meeting held at the Buffalo Maritime Center, starting at 10:30AM. Cary Tyler, surveyor and a member of the Antique Boat Group, joined the group.
