SPEAKER'S BUREAU

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Sometimes the difference between a good meeting and a bad one is a "program" that is or is not included. A good program can really make a difference, plus improve attendance. The USPS Speaker's Bureau is a resource and information center for meeting presentations that have been or could be given at squadron, district and national meetings. Registering a presentation DOES NOT obligate the presenter in any way. It is recognition of the time an effort that has gone into preparing the presentations and can also serve a source of ideas for meetings of all types.

If you have experienced an exceptional presentation, please consider registering it with the Speaker's Bureau and give credit to the presenter for a fine job. That may be the only pay they get.

Some of the more frequently asked questions are:

Does listing with the USPS Speaker's Bureau obligate the Presenter in any way?
What type of presentations may be registered?
Who can register a presentation?
How do I register or change the listing?
How do I know that my registration has been received?
Can I include program preview files?
Is the Speaker personal information shared outside USPS-CPS?

Question: What type of presentations may be registered?
Answer: The current topic list includes General, Boating, Cruising, History, and Travel. Additional topics will be added as circumstances warrant. The fundamental requirement is that the presentation be informative and entertaining. It should be something that a USPS-CPS member can relate to. Political or Religious themes are not appropriate and will not be accepted.

Question: How do I register or change a listing?

Answer: The preferred method is to use the online form. This form may be accessed at: www.usps.org/national/boatact/member/spkr_form.html. It is linked to from the member only Speaker's Bureau website and at the bottom of this page as well. As an alternative, the form can be printed, filled in by hand, and mailed to the database manager listed on the form. This will introduce an additional delay for the listing.

If a change is needed to a previously submitted event, please use the "Comments to the Committee" section of the form to indicate what elements need to be changed.

Hint: If multiple speakers are being submitted for which the submitter information remains relatively unchanged, use your browser Back function to recall the submitted form and make the needed changes for the next speaker.

Question: How do I know that my registration has been received?
Answer:
The registration forms are sent to the database manager who will check it for completeness. When the information from the form has been entered into the database and the online websites have been updated the database manager will send a return e-mail to acknowledge the fact that the changes have been made.
