Allocation of Time
Effective May 26, 2011
The general allocation of time has been set as a maximum of 14 hours per report. This allocation consists of having two components. The first component is field time. This component shall contain a maximum of 8 hours. This corresponds to the hours of an average “day trip” used in the computation for determining an Inland or Coastal Squadron. The second component is report processing. This component shall contain a maximum of 6 hours.
The Area Representatives will monitor the time allocations very closely especially when the reports contain the maximum hours allowed. The Area Representative may request that you provide details on how you determined your hours. We are requesting that all participants exercise good judgment when listing the time for the report. As an example, if you are using the maximum of 8 hours field time and the only report item is an Inspection report it would be unreasonable to claim that the maximum 6 hours was used to process that report.
The only exception at this time in exceeding the maximum hours would be if the report is returned by a District Chairman, National Committee member or NOAA that would require additional field and processing time to obtain additional information is the case in some Depth Surveys. However the additional time should not exceed the original amount.
