The ability to update boating class and seminar information on-line is provided for use by Squadron Educational Officers or their authorized designates as well as for the convenience of DEOs to monitor and distribute. This program automatically updates the master online database which is used by Headquarters and is listed on the USPS public web site. All Boating class updates and corrections are automatically sent via e-mail to Boat/US, state Boating Law Administrators and the respective DEO. For a complete description of the on-line process, please print and read the HQ-800/ED-27 Instruction Booklet. (Note: Set your printer preferences to print double-sided in landscape mode)
Don't forget to file your ED-27 after your boating class; it's available as an on-line form linked to the HQ-800 Class registration form.
Note that ED-27 is not used for seminars; use the Seminar Workbook or Boating Course Assistant to send Seminar information to Headquarters.
Lastly, note that for all boating classes, BOTH the ED-27 summary data and all the ED-26 student data MUST be submitted electronically to Headquarters via thier respective processes. ED-27 is done via on-line submittal, and ED-26/student data is done via Boating Class Workbook or Boating Course Assistant; see the important Exam Administrator Information for All USPS Public Boating Courses (57KB, PDF).
Register Boating Classes (HQ-800 on-line form).
File Boating Class Completions (ED-27 online form). The form is accessed from the class listing.
Tip: Don't forget to allow your potential students to pre-register on-line for your Boating courses. Complete details on how to do activate this feature are in the Online Registration PDF (142KB) document.
Tip: To add additional classes for a squadron, open up any current class for your squadron, enter (overwrite) the information for the new class you want to add, and then click on the ADD button at the bottom of the form. That will add an additional class for your squadron without changing the original class.
Tip: The ED-27 on-line form is accessible from within the HQ-800 process. Simply open the HQ-800 on line form for the class for which you wish to process an ED-27, fill in the originator information at the bottom and click on the ED-27 link. Fill it in and submit. If you wish to fill out a blank ED-27 for a course not listed on an HQ-800 form, then open any HQ-800 for your squadron. At the bottom of the form, fill in your originator information and click on the Blank ED-27 link.
