Procedural Guide for Checking N Sight Folders

For those who need additional copies of the complete Sight Checkers Guide for Nav 09, you may download an Adobe Acrobat version.  We recommend that you save the PDF file  (752KB) to your local machine by right clicking and choosing a "Save" option from the choices presented to you.

Forms

The following forms are available for downloading and use.  Click on the form abbreviation to download it.  For double sided forms (SRs, NSK and SL), please print or copy them onto a single sheet of paper before filling them in for submission to Headquarters with your sight folder.

N09 Forms

N09 Form	N09 Abbreviation	Purpose
N Key to Sights	NSK 09 (244B)	Used to indicate which sights were used to fulfill N requirements  (This form must be submitted as a single, double sided sheet.)
Sight Verification	NSV 08 (211KB)	Used by sight checker to state conformance of sights
Meridian Transit	MT 07 (28KB)	Used to precompute time of transit and to compute Latitude
Sight Log	SL 08 (151KB)	Used to record sight data  (This form must be submitted as a single, double sided sheet.)
Re-Sight Verification	RSV 08 (209KB)	Used with sight resubmittals to indicate corrections were done
Simplified Traverse	Traverse 09 (175KB)	Used in computing a position, such as when plotting sheets aren't available or usable in emergency navigation
Deck Log	DL 09 (221KB)	Used to record vessel information in practice cruise and exam
Sight Reduction Form - LOC/NASR	SR-96A (62KB)	Used to reduce sights for submission in the Student Sight Folder  (This form must be submitted as a single, double sided sheet.)
Constant Latitude Scale Plotting Sheet	CLS (74KB)	Used to plot sights for submission in the Student Sight Folder
Star Finder Form	Star Finder Form (43KB)	(Optional) Useful in preparing students to take sights for their sight folders.  Completing this form in advance of taking sights allows students to plan exactly what bodies they want to "shoot" for maximum efficiency when down at "the beach".
