THE ENSIGN District Correspondents

Thank you for taking the time to make THE ENSIGN an even better vehicle for squadron, district and national news and features. You can help THE ENSIGN by gathering material for the magazine, spreading the word about how to submit articles, photos and illustrations, and giving us feedback from the district and squadron level.

Duties

1) Contact the squadron newsletter editors in your district to make sure they are sending their newsletters to the appropriate THE ENSIGN Reader.

2) Review your district's newsletters for local events and ideas that might interest USPS members in other areas of the country.

3) Look for

a) article ideas (often these arise from squadron and district meetings or other USPS functions),
b) members interested in following-up on articles ideas, and
c) members who might consider submitting articles, photos or illustrations to THE ENSIGN.

4) Keep your eye out for photographers at cruises, rendezvous, boat shows, and other squadron and district events. Be sure that members know how easy it is to submit photos to THE ENSIGN. They can send photos and caption information directly to the publication office at P.O. Box 31664, Raleigh NC 27622.

5) Ask for a few moments to address squadron THE ENSIGN correspondents at your next district conference. Recognize those who have submitted work to THE ENSIGN since the last district conference and remind members that THE ENSIGN welcomes ideas from each of them. Distribute copies of the 2009 Writers Guide.

6) Ask district and squadron members if they have any questions or concerns about the magazine. If you are asked questions you cannot answer, refer members to THE ENSIGN staff.

7) Try to locate an assistant if your schedule will not allow you to fulfill these duties.

8) Keep in touch with THE ENSIGN staff. Let us know what we can do for you, and send us your suggestions for improving the magazine.

Thank you for all your hard work. With your help, THE ENSIGN will continue to be a magazine we can all be proud of.

If you have any questions about your duties, please contact Correspondent Coordinator P/Stf/C Henriette Kaiser Fox, SN.
