Tom Kemp, Manager of Marketing & Development Services Recently named USPS manager of marketing and development services, Tom Kemp has more than 20 years’ experience in developing successful marketing strategies and redirecting marketing efforts to help organizations remain relevant in a changing environment.

Tom has developed a strategic and tactical corporate marketing plan for a leading marine company, built brand loyalty, upgraded a company website to make it easy to use and navigate, directed marketing and sales efforts in diverse distribution channels, and initiated product marketing and sales strategies.

In his first year, Tom will concentrate on developing a long-range marketing plan to help USPS grow. He will also focus on membership recruitment and retention and USPS product promotion.

NASBLA elects new head

Amateur radio plays an important part in personal communications, both afloat and onshore. To aid communication, the USPS Squadron Activities Committee maintains a frequently updated online directory of some 400-plus amateur radio operators in USPS and the Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons. The committee also sponsors the USPS-CPS Amateur Radio Net and the USPS Amateur Radio Club.

Squadron outreach honored

In September, Chief Commander Ernest G. Marshburn recognized both the achievement of a USPS sea adventurer and the community outreach efforts of eight outstanding squadrons at the 2007 Governing Board Meeting in Norfolk, Va.
