E-mail Accounts

ITCom offers either mail forwarders or real e-mail mailboxes for qualifying positions within USPS. These addresses are for positions/offices, not individuals. When you retire from your office, your successor inherits the e-mail address.

To obtain an account, send e-mail to the System Administrator. Qualifying positions are:
  • National Bridge
  • National Committee R/C's
  • National Committees Stf/C's
Note: National committee representatives who request email addresses will only be allowed the use of a email forwarder. Forwarders

A forwarder will allow e-mail to go to "something@usps.org" and end up in your private mailbox, sort of like call-forwarding with your telephone. This provides that advantage that you do not have to setup and read another e-mail box, but you loose your anonymity when responding. The branding effect of using the usps.org domain name is also lost.

E-mail Boxes

Using a mailbox, you can send and receive e-mail with the address similar to "something@usps.org". These are regular e-mail mailboxes. That means, no one sending or receiving e-mail from you will know your personal e-mail address.

These accounts require that you configure your own e-mail client to send to and receive from different e-mail addresses and server locations. Please note that given the sheer number of different e-mail clients, ITCom can not take a technical role in configuring your e-mail client.

Configuring Your E-mail Client

Some configuration settings and sample screen dumps are available to help you configure your e-mail client.
