Tulsa Power Squadron

Library Reading Program

The Oklahoma public libraries had a state-wide summer reading program for children this summer. Water safety and boating was the theme. The program was called "Books Ahoy, Sail Through the Summer with Stories".

Two local public libraries contacted the Tulsa Power Squadron and ask us to participate and our squadron presented two programs at one and one program at the other. All were enthusiastically received.

We obtained a great video program that had been developed by and for the Corps of Engineers. It is called Safe Passage and was the basis of our programs. Its great for kids.

As a former educator, programs of this nature are a great opportunity for squadrons that have younger members or for the children of their members to be involved in promoting our USPS mission of safe boating.
