Mission:    Continue developing District and Squadron members as leaders and role models.

Objective:  Provide training for Officers and Chairs that is scalable and repeatable at both the District & Squadron levels

          Prerequisites: USPS Leadership LD101 and LD102 completions are prerequisites for attendance

Duration:       7 hours

Media:            PowerPoint presentation

Materials:      Detailed course notes provided to each student

Activities:      Team exercises and practice case studies

Certificate:    Successful students will receive a certificate

DB2000:        Successful completion will be indicated on DB2000

Participants:   All USPS members are encouraged to attend.

Fee:   All students will be charged $75.00 to help defray the cost of printing materials, coffee breaks, lunch, and Facilitator Travel.

Introduction and Ice-breaker 0900 - 0915

Module 1 0915 -1030: Leadership Knowledge and Skills - re-affirm the fundamentals of leadership covered in LD101 and LD102

 

Break  1030 - 1045

 

Module 2  1045 - 1200: Teambuilding Techniques - methods for developing and managing high-performance work teams and committees

 

Break 12:00pm - 1300 - Working Lunch (begin Case Study)

 

Module 3  1300 - 1430: Problem Solving - Develop goals and an action plan to address a typical squadron challenge - hands on application using the knowledge and skills gained in LD101 and LD102 as well as Modules 1 and 2 of this seminar.

 

Break 1430 - 1445

 

Module 4 1445 - 1515: Operations Training: The Commander's Department, Jobs, Responsibilities and Committees. Brief Review of Operations Manual. This module is specifically designed for the Commander

 

Module 5 1515 - 1545: Planning and Executing Effective Meetings - Styles, Meetings and Conflict Resolution

 

Module 6 1545 - 1600: Closing - One More Story and Complete Evaluations

Course Facilitator:   Stf/C Anita F. Walker, JN

 

Anita is a member of the National Leadership Development and Membership Committees, a Certified Instructor, and an Operations Training Program presenter. She teaches Instructor Development and the Public Boating Course. Anita has a BS in Economics from the University of Illinois and an MBA in Operations Management from Illinois Benedictine University. During her manufacturing/consulting days, Anita was on the national training team employee faculty for Johnson and Johnson, Coopers & Lybrand, Gemini Consulting and KPMG. Subjects included: Leadership Development, Team Building, Quality, Operations/Supply Chain Improvement, Organizational Structure and Strategy, Organizational Turnaround, Safety and other manufacturing/government topics.
