During our 90th Anniversary, P/Stf/C Lucille Horowitz, SN did some research on the history of the Planning Committee. After poring over stacks of old minutes at Headquarters, she was able to compile some interesting facts regarding the origin of the committee and the many members who have served. It all started with the appointment of the Post War Planning Committee 11 October 1943. click to see the Formation minutes.

The committee recommended and got the name changed to Planning Committee 15 January 1944. click to see the Name Change minutes.

The appointment of the first Chairman and Committee Members took place on 14 February 1944. click to see First Planning Committee Appointment minutes.

The first "work product" of the Planning Committee was a plan for a new district organization, published in 1946. click to see the Report in PDF. In the 60 years of its existence, quite a number of members have served. The committee has been blessed over the years with true dedication from its members but P/V/C Ellis Edge Jr., N may truly take the prize. After serving as National Secretary for 5 years, he served on the Planning Committee for 19 years with 15 of those years as Assistant Chair. click to see the history of Committee Membership.
