In the past few years Ted has produced three of our one-hour TV shows (note on-location action shot at left) and six award winning 30-sec. video PSAs. Recently elected to the position of Assistant Chairman, Member Benefits Com., Ted will continue as a valuable member of our Mar/PR committee. He has served as chair of the Canadian Safe Boating Council and frequently serves as an MC at the International Boating and Water Safety Summits. He has also won the USCG-USPS Eagle Award for Significant Contributions to Boating Safety. Ted’s wife is Helga.

A close friend of the R/C for many years. Although he is not a member of USPS, Bill has been providing our organization with countless illustrations over the years from Boating Course covers to illustrations in PRO•LOG. He also provided all the art for three USBI brochures. An award winning cartoonist and illustrator from the Star Ledger newspaper, Bill is now retired and lives in Cave Creek, AZ, where he continues to provide art and cartoons to the local paper.

A sailor and 34-year member of USPS, Don currently serves on the national level as a member of the Boat Handling Com, and one of the writers of the current Sail & Seamanship courses. He is also a member of the National Government Affairs Committee. On the squadron level Don serves as the chairman of his squadron’s boating safety course and the membership committee and teaches an average of 300 boaters yearly. He is the retired VP of Marketing for Loews Theatres, one of the nation’s largest theatre chains, and also served five years as the commissioner for the NJ Motion Picture and Television Development Commission. Don has had great success in internet marketing & membership and is an expert in this area.

hgriffin@juno.com A professional captain for most of his business life, Hank has been providing USPS educational cruises of New York Harbor for 17 years. The 3-hour cruises, which depart an hour and a half before sunset aboard a 150-foot vessel, are open to all students in D/4 and at a price of less than $20 per person, each cruise is sold out.  Students are asked to “brown bag” their meals, and each student is provided with a chart replica of the harbor and other USPS safety literature. During the cruise Hank provides continuous narration, pointing out the Aids to Navigation, the ranges, the various types of vessels and the sights and history of the harbor. The cruises are as much marketing as educational and are enormously popular. A much higher percentage of those aboard join. USPS teachers and proctors can board at no cost and are encouraged to assist their students as they follow the course on their charts. To see photos click link

D/PRO Glen Sherman will be our AV manager and see to it that our AV equipment is in working order during our Governing Board and Annual Meeting. He is the Operations Manager of an AV rental, sales and installation service provider. Glen spearheaded the project to bring back our USPS Civic Service-type sign which has now received a grant in Long Island, NY, to install these signs on waterways as well as highways. Glen is also a squadron webmaster, Radio Technical Officer, and has written columns for D/3 squadron newsletters.
