Entering The VSC
Data Correctly
When you get to the
VSC data entry form, you'll first have to enter the data contained/recorded on
your ANSC 7012 or 7012a form:
1. Put in your
CERTIFICATE NUMBER ( Capital letter and six numbers ) Hit TAB or click next box.
You
will see your District and squadron info fill in.
2. Next, put in the
DATE of the actual exam with Day/Month/Year separated by a slash such as
02/13/2012 and hit TAB or click next box.
3. Put in the 1st
letter of the STATE the VSC was conducted in, and scroll if necessary to the
state
abbreviation. This is to insure the requirements for the state in which the examination are adhered to
and Hit TAB or click in the
HIN block below.
4. Put in the
HIN (HIN
1st 3 characters must be Alpha (letters) and some newer European HIN
numbers can
contain up to 5 alpha letters)
number from the craft or type NONE if you can't find it.
Hit TAB for the next
column. A HIN with less than 12 letters/numbers fill in additional 0's
(zeros) at the front to fill in to 12.
5. Select the correct
LENGTH.
Hit TAB for the next column.
6. Select
type of POWER for the vessel being examined. Hit TAB for the next column.
7. Select type of
WATER in the next
column.
8. The
LAST COLUMN is
only to be annotated if the examination resulted in a FAILURE.
9. If your data is
entered correctly and you have additional examinations to enter, click on the ADD
button below and the data you just entered will be shown on a white background.
10. Continue adding VSC's
following steps 4 through 9. Each time be sure to ADD when your entry
is
complete.
11. When you have
entered ALL of your data from multiple examinations, you can hit the SUBMIT
button and all your entries will be entered in the USPS data base.
NOTE: All vessel examinations entered count as a VSC for YOU whether a PASS or a FAIL.
