Rocky Point/Cholla Bay, Mexico Rendezvous
November 13 – 15.

 By Ron and Rose Werner

Things  are coming together for the annual squadron rendezvous in Rocky Point Mexico. The events and times are loose and subject to agreed-upon change, but here’s how things look right now.

The planned events begin with a twilight cocktail party at the water front home of Jose and Janet Pallavicini on Cholla Bay. Everyone knows where it is, but if this is the first time for you, there are plenty of folks who can show the way. Featured this year are fresh potato soup, custom made clam chowder. hors d’œuvres and dessert are supplied by members, so bring your favorites to share This year, you will be responsible for your own cocktails. In other words: BYOB.

Later Friday evening is the traditional Bingo game, but this year there’s a slight twist. Bring ten dimes or so as well as a white elephant gift. Those are the entry fees for the game. It’s different, and it’s fun.

Saturday morning, Ron and Rose Werner have planned a clean up at the Reef RV park. That begins at 8:00 a.m. The rest of the day is free for all the things you can do.

At 5:30 p.m., we’re getting together at Paul and Grace Schoonover’s beach front home. It’s about 100 yards from the Pallavicini home. There’s a clam bake with cole slaw and other trimmings. Again, BYOB. This will be followed by a skit taking aim at Gilligan’s Island.

But...the weekend doesn't’ t end on Saturday night, because Sunday morning there’s a potluck brunch at the RV Park beginning at 9:00 a.m. Coffee is being provided. For this, chairs and card tables will be welcome.

There’s more: For the first time, those who are staying over will participate in a pot luck dinner at Gary and Marilyn’s Cholla Bay home.

All this is yours for a small fee, which is to be determined.

There are folks leaving on different days and times for Mexico. Let Ron Werner or Bill Johnson know what day you’re you can be part of a convoy or simply hitch a ride.

Turkey Fry is Scheduled
21 November 2009

Who: Our Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron boating family.

What: The Annual Turkey Fry!

When: 21 November around 1100 (11 am). Dinner will be around 1300 (1PM).

Where: We will meet at Rattlesnake Campground at Bartlett lake.

Bring your family, a Thanksgiving dish to share, a chair and eating utensils, and a thankful heart. There will be ample time for visiting with others, playing games, hiking, boating, or anything else you want to partake of.

Bill and Connie will deep fry a turkey. Additional turkeys and fryers may be needed. Other dishes needed are  mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, vegetables, rolls, gravy, stuffing, desserts, very large paper plates, plastic silverware, butter, ice, or anything else you would find at a Thanksgiving dinner table. This event has historically been very well attended. So that we have ample food and a good variety, please RSVP to Bill or Connie Johnson with your number of people attending as well as what food dish you intend to bring.
In 2008 we cooked (and ate) 3 twenty-pound turkeys and had no leftovers! We hope to see you there and look forward to another great day with our boating family.

Special Note: you will need to purchase a Tonto National Forest Day Pass for entry into the park. These can be purchased at the ranger office, on line from Tonto National Forest website, or from sporting goods stores, or other local venders such as Circle K or Four Sons Gas Stations in Cave Creek. They are not available in the park itself—you must purchase one before you get there. Cost is $6.00 per vehicle and an additional $4.00 per watercraft. If you have trouble finding a pass, please contact Bill or Connie. (see emails and phone info below)
