Hello fellow Amoskeag Power Squadron members.
Mark you calendars for February 5th and March 11th for two exciting
squadron meetings.
Squadron Meetings
* 5 February Founders day - The Yard Restaurant-Manchester
Hear about what it's like to be a tanker on the Harsh Alaska route from
Captain Bill Full.
Bill graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and shipped with Exxon Shipping
Co. 1976 through 1998 with virtually all experience at sea. He did the
Valdez, AK to US West Coast or Panama run for 11 years 7 of which were as
Captain of the sistership to the EXXON VALDEZ. He holds an unlimited Master
Mariners license along with several first class pilotage endorsements. Bill
has been with East Coast Yacht Sales in Yarmouth, Maine since fall of 1998.
* 12 March Change of watch - The Cat & Fiddle - Concord
Captain Steve Root from Portsmouth Towboat/US will tell us about towing,
salvage and other important topics
What do you know about being towed when you're in trouble. Do you know the
difference between a simple tow and being salvaged? If not, it could cost
you your boat. If you run aground on a sandbar and ask for a tow, can
someone ask for 50% of the value of your boat? Maybe. Learn everything
you'll need to know
