Flash Animation is like a cartoon, made up of a sequence of graphic
images. Used a lot on web pages. You may need the Flash Player from
Adobe. Either you don't have it, or you have an old version. It's at
www.adobe.com.

Subject: [Comphelp] Flash Animation in New Seamanship Course
The new Seamanship course looks really good with a lot of improved boat
handling material. The animation is listed in the Instructor Guide as
"Flash Animation" and several slides using it appear in about half of
the chapters. You are supposed to activate it by clicking on a rocker
button or play button. When I do, I just advance to the next slide and
do not get any animation.
I have tried it on two different computers, both Dell laptops with
Windows XP and Office 2003 which includes PowerPoint 2003. I am running
from the CD provided in the new Seamanship Instructor Kit. I have
checked with another member who is able to run it from the CD and the
animation works. When I open a chapter that contains animation, I get a
message that reads "Some controls on this presentation can't be
activated. They might not be registered on this computer".
I understand some folks had problems with bad CD's that wouldn't open.
Everything opens and all slides are apparently there, I just can't make
the animation work.
A couple of questions:
What is "Flash Animation"? How does it differ from the macros that we
have in the Boat Smart CD? Does it require a download to activate it?
If so, where do I get it?
Has anyone out there successfully run the new Seamanship CD?
Thanks for any help.
