Dear District Commanders,
   
  I feel fortunate to have been able to address your group at the recent GB weekend in Norfolk. At your meeting on Friday morning I spoke of several papers that might be very helpful to the districts and squadrons...if used. I have attached them; they were developed in the original Strategic Plan and approved by OCom and the GB. They can be found in various Membership publications, but the program was never really embraced by those in MemCom at that time. They had similar ideas they were trying, and the Power of One campaign started and overshadowed most everything else. I saw several D/Cs or DXOs wrting down the names for these papers, so I thought it may be helpful to send them to all of you.
   
  -The Interest Survey, given to the incoming member when they sign up (at the boaing class)will identify where the interests lie. This is helpful for a mentor or phone committee to enable offerings of interest in a timely fashion. 
  -The Mentor Checklist provides an easy to use list of what should be done to keep track of the member involvement. 
  -The final paper, the Non Renewal Survey, is an exit interview (taken in-person or most likely on the phone). 
   
  All the information from the surveys should be used to provide the best possible experiences for the members and to seek improvement where needed...at all levels. The original intent was to share the squadrons' information with their districts and then with national. Districts and national could then get a better pulse of the members and work toward maintaining and improving benefical programs, creating more innovative ones, and correcting those that are a sore spot.
   
  Please feel free to send them to your squadrons and encourage there use. You might consider distributing them at your Fall Conference. Add or delete items from the lists to adapt it to your local situation.
