System at http://safetyseal.net. We really appreciate all of you that =
have
volunteered and have been helping us make the waterways safer. But we =
seem
to have a recurring problem in communications...

We are having a serious problem with VSC requests made through the I =
Want a
VSC system. Whenever a request is made and the email bounces back as
undeliverable, or after no response in over a week, I get an email back =
from
our customers. When this happens, I have to make phone calls to the
volunteer that was selected that did not respond. The big problem I'm
finding is that over 95% of those no responses is that they tell me they
passed the request on to someone else. May it be their FC, another VE, =
their
FSO-VE, whatever, and no follow-up happened. Then I get emails back from =
our
customers that read like this which I received today:

"I resent being made to jump through hoops to obtain the vessel safety
check.  I will not e-mail the hospitalized examiner to inform him of the
Commander's lack of performance.  I give up..."

This is very bad public relations for the Coast Guard, the Coast Guard
Auxiliary and our partner, the Power Squadrons. If we are to provide a
service, we must do the best we can.

In the future if there is any reason that you cannot personally perform =
a
VSC for a request, please do not forward it on to anyone. Reply to the
person asking for the VSC explaining why you can't do it now and ask =
them to
please go back and request a VSC from another examiner near their ZIP =
Code.

response and serve our customers better in the future.
