It was brought to my attention earlier today that the web site hosting this
information was not responding. The site is back up and running now.

Please pass this along to your Vessel Examiners, Program Visitors, & Public
Education members. The web link is to an article about Rip Currents. Rip
Currents have killed several people along our coast in the last few years.
We need to do a better job of educating the public about Rip Currents
(sometimes incorrectly called "undertow" or "rip tide"). And the education
needs to happen everywhere, not just at the coast, since inlanders visit and
swim our coastal shorelines. I recommend reading the article and visiting
the web links it provides. And then provide the information to the public
through our Vessel Safety Checks, RBSVP visits, and Public Education
classes.
