	Ahoy all VEs,

There are a few subjects from our VSCCOM meeting in New York you all
should be aware of. They are listed below.

	1) The VSC program provides an ideal opportunity to recruit new
members. Many of the boaters have already taken a qualifying course or would
be willing to take one or even take the equivalency exam. This make every
boater the VE contacts a potential member. Your VEs should be handing out
the "This is USPS" tri-fold brochure and the membership application tri-fold
to every boater they contact. These are great opportunities folks. Let's not
miss out on it. After all, every new member is one more person carrying our
message and promoting safe boating.

	2) There appears to be some confusion about who has authority to
submit VSC results via the new online reporting system. The advent of the
new system did not change the VSC Policy. It is the responsibility of the
district to decide whether reporting will be handled/submitted by the
district chair or by the individual squadron chairs. We did not delegate the
individual squadrons authority to make this decision in conflict with their
district policy. I hope this clears up any confusion.

	3) There are many useful free handouts at headquarters and nearly no
one is ordering them. You do have to pay shipping but these resources are
invaluable to the VE so you should be encouraging all VSC chairs to order a
supply for their VEs. These supplies are all listed on the VSC Order Form
found on the National VSC Forms and Tools page at
http://www.usps.org/national/vsc/formtool.html. Let's got get them.

	4) The USPS Snoopy Coloring Books are a great icebreaker to use with
boaters with children these are available on the "Free Brochures" order form
also on the Forms and Tools Page along with a host of other free items that
no one seems to be ordering. Lets get going folks.

	Lets go save lives.

	Cheers,
