After the class ends, communications gets harder, more expensive ($20 for a mailing) and less effective than face to face in the class room. The Christophers of Andover, will have = training=20 sessions at their home on 6 April for Operations Training in the morning = and=20 Vessel Safety Check in the afternoon. There will be an exam on 13 April = for VSC=20 in the morning. 
 
Jack Daniels, the Co-op chair for D18, = recently=20 gave me a copy of Nautical Chart 13274, Portsmouth Harbor to Boston=20 Harbor.  It covers the shoreline of D18 with slight extensions to=20 Portsmouth and Boston.  I suggest that we discuss the possibility = of the=20 district working toward adoption of this chart with Jack at the upcoming = D18=20 Conference.   This chart, Dated May 12/01,. contains 44 = listings of=20 public marine facilities which could be added to or updated.  = Several=20 reports were sent in since the publication date by Beverly and = Marblehead =20 squadrons in connection with the Salem Harbor Chart.

Two years ago, I requested activation = of the d18=20 list as a way for District 18 to provide an easy way to communicate = information=20 between meetings.  Recently, Susan Schanning suggested that it = could be=20 used for "newbies".  I see no conflict and would hope that a new = member=20 would ask questions since it is difficult to explain every detail = without=20 writing a book.  My primary concern is that those who have signed = on to the=20 list get some benefit from it and remain members. 
 
I suggest that the silent majority = state their=20 desires about the list content and any prohibitions and that we operate = based on=20 the wishes of the majority.

There is no information that I can find about the conference (flyer, web site). It was mentioned in the last D18 council meeting that there would be one at the hotel.
