Part 1
With the passage of Hurricane Charley, many of our D/22 members have
undoubtedly lost many of their possessions - clothes, furnishings, homes
and other property - and some, perhaps their ability to survive.
If you can physically assist any of the relief agencies, please do.
Otherwise, I strongly urge all of our members to consider giving whatever
monetary assistance they can afford to our local and national relief
organizations whose mission it is to assist in such emergencies as we
have seen in the past few days.
Many of us are aware of local efforts to assist the victims of
Charley. If you're not sure of what to offer, please consider writing a
check for whatever you can afford and send it to the American Red Cross,
Salvation Army or whatever agency you prefer and specify its use to
relieve the suffering of Hurricane Charley victims. Further guidance and
a complete list of charities recommended by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency is available at http://www.fema.gov/rrr/help2.shtm.
Part 2
For your info, we have been in touch with a few members in our
southern and western squadrons. So far it appears that Ft. Myers, San
Carlos Bay, Naples, Marco Island and Lakeland have suffered some damage
but are in relatively good shape. We have not been able to contact
Sanibel-Captiva or Peace River members, but it's obvious that
catastrophic damage has been incurred. If you are from San-Cap or Peace
River, please let us know your status as soon as possible. Also, if you
have need of temporary housing or anything else, please let me know.
We'll do our very best to assist. You're in our prayers. Thanks to
all, D/C Ken
