Subject: USPS to be on “the NBC TODAY SHOW “ 
Sandy Rivera, Producer on the NBC TODAY SHOW has advised me that:  
Friday, 22 June a segment illustrating USPS class room and dockside 
activities, will be broadcast nationally on NBC TODAY.  
Background,  
In several discussions with Peter Greenberg, travel Editor for TODAY, an 
opportunity to videotape a boating class as well as other dockside activities was 
proposed and accepted. The interest of Peter was in boating education for new 
and younger boaters and to explore the kinds of programs that are available.  
Tres Rios Power with the support of Seal Beach Yacht Club traditionally 
schedules several weekend classes throughout the year, a shooting date on a 
Saturday was arranged. The shooting schedule called taping class member interviews as 
well as additional shots dockside and on board a vessel.  
19 May - A four hour class and additional dockside shots were captured by NBC 
News Producer Sandy Rivera and her field crew from the NBC - “TODAY SHOW.”.  
The classroom presentation of a Tres Rios Power Squadron boating class 
featured USPS Boat Smart course material and CD presentations . Copies of the Second 
USPS National Safe Boating Test in DVD format were provided for the use by 
NBC.  
Activities  
Tres Rios Power Squadron members as well as TRPS members of Sea Scout Ship 
White Shark assisted during classroom activities at Seal Beach Yacht Club, in 
Long Beach Ca. Over five hours of taping was required with camera and boom mic 
moving around the class. Illustrated and hands on activities by the class as 
well as dockside with views of class members beside and onboard and underway in 
a sparkling new 32 ft powerboat provided by Mat Pye, a member of SLBYC.  
The important news - Airdate and Time.  
After editing, the segment is scheduled for broadcast during the show on 22 
June, 2007, as Sandy says, “subject to late breaking news“.  
FYI - “TODAY” airs between 0700 and 1000 East and West coast times  
Follow-up  
Sandy Rivera, TODAY SHOW Producer, will advise me by email a closer time 
closer in the next few days as the production schedule is finalized . This 
information will be forwarded to all with an interest.
