All boating enthusiasts who wish to see safe boating on our lakes pay
attention. For years we have worked to get the boating public familiar with the
basic rules for safe boating. Senator Wyrick is making such an attempt but
needs our individual support.

Bill:
Please send the following to the Squadron members.=20
LEGISLATIVE ALERT!
SB 282 is just what those in favor of mandatory boating safety education hav=
e wanted for years. Personally, I'm in favor of it, and hope you are too. Th=
ere is an article about it on page C-9 of the Feb. 17 Chronicle. (Be assured=
that squadron courses and certificates, being NASBLA approved, are sanction=
ed under this bill.)

If you would like a copy of the bill, you can check the legislative website=20=
at www.lsb.state.ok.us. (Use legal paper to print).=20

Meanwhile, I am requesting that you e-mail or call Sen. Charles Wyrick with=20=
your preference on how you would like him to vote (he's the chair of the Pub=
lic Safety Committee). His phone no. is (405) 521-5561 and his e-mail addres=
s is: wyrick@lsb.state.ok.us. I'm sorry to put such a tight restriction on c=
ontacting him on this legislation but bills have to be reported out of commi=
ttee by Thursday morning (2/24/05) to be considered by the full Senate this=20=
session, so this should be done tomorrow (2/23) at the latest. I just found=20=
this out this afternoon.=20

Bobbie Thorman
D31 Legislative Chair
(918) 786-3639

P.S. In contacting Senator Wyrick, please make it clear that you are not rep=
resenting a Power Squadron position and that these views are yours as an ind=
ividual.=20
