It is with deepest regrets that I send this message to the D31 USPS friends 
of P/C Dave Shumake, JN.



Wednesday morning (June 28, 2006) Dave was struck by a car as he crossed the 
street at the Oklahoma County Courthouse.  He was taken to University 
Hospital where he died.



A Memorial Service is pending.  It will be held at Crown Heights Christian 
Church in Oklahoma City.



Dave was a charter member of the Oklahoma City Sail and Power Squadron. 
USPS was his hobby and he promoted it at every opportunity.  He taught and 
encouraged hundreds of students who took the Public Boating Classes as well 
as the advanced courses of USPS.



For many years I have introduced Dave to the Public Boating Classes as Mr. 
Power Squadron.  For many years he and I have had a running banter of his 
welcoming the guys to the classes-then adding, "And ladies..Sandy, that was 
for you".



To say that Dave will be missed is an understatement.   Surely, God has a 
better plan for him.



Please keep Richard and David and their families in your thoughts and 
prayers.  They asked that I notify Dave's USPS friends for them.
