To all mail list administrators,

As part of a general cleanup, Mailman has been upgraded to v2.1.9. The
changes from v2.1.5 are minor, including bug fixes and minor security flaws.
One additional feature has been added:

Administrators now have the capability to delete their own lists. This
is a powerful tool, and you might wish to stay clear of it. If you click on
it, you will be asked to authenticate with your password. If it is used,
everything goes away including the subscriber roster. You might wish to make
a list of your subscribers as a backup. Avoid sharing your password with
anyone. If sharing becomes necessary, change it when the sharing is no
longer needed.

Occasionally, I have been asked how to get a list of subscribers, and I
have referred the inquirer to the Mailman FAQ 3.62 at
http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py . There are several methods
described in the FAQ. I recently tried getting a list and recommend using
the email "who" command as follows::

Send a message, from the same address by which you are subscribed to the
list, to listname-request at usps.org , where listname is the name of your
list.
In the subject line write "who yourpassword" without the quotes, where
yourpassword is the one you use for list admin access. A list of
subscribers, with their names if entered, will be returned to you almost
immediately from listname-bounce at usps.org .

A description of the "who" command, and other email commands, can be found
by addressing your -request address as above and with "help" (without the
quotes) in the subject line.

Thank you all for volunteering to assist the communication needs of our
member.

Regards, Phil
