Saturday, 4 Sept 2004 - Update
0800 Saturday Report (R/C Howard Yoas). The Jacksonville mayor made a
televised report this morning. There are no plans for evacuations, the airport is
operating in normal mode, no shelters are opening and little effect is expected.
This morning the sun is shining with a partly cloudy sky, there is little
wind, and no rain. It appears now that there will be little effect from the
storm.
As of this morning, the NHC upgraded their forecast for the immediate
Jacksonville area to Tropical Storm Warning/Hurricane Watch. While the current
official storm track from the National Hurricane Center predicts that the storm
will still pass west of Jacksonville, ultimate impact remains unpredictable at
this time as the forward motion of the storm has slowed.
