JACKSONVILLE WAS A BLAST
=20
I thank you for your attendance which was no easy task for those that=20
journeyed to the 2004 Fall Governing Board. What with =E2=80=9CFrances=E2=
=80=9D and =E2=80=9CIvan the=20
Terrible=E2=80=9D roaming the neighborhoods.
=20
Jacksonville area was fortunate, no serious destruction or serious power=20
outages. While staying at the hotel, there were a lot of outside folks comin=
g into=20
the area to help Floridians in the hardest hit areas such as utility workers=
=20
and insurance claims folks too.
=20
All our best to the citizens and members in the hurricanes path.
=20
The hotel was very good to work with and our meetings committee did a super=20
job once again.
=20
Open Meeting was well attended with 76 members signing in, other came and=20
went. We drew a good crowd once again because the word is out, membership=20
connects, membership rocks! The program and planning team did a terrific job=
, well=20
done. The opening memorial to the anniversary of 9/11 was wonderful and very=
=20
well received. The Chief ask that it be presented Saturday morning to start=20=
the=20
governing board and this was done. The committee theme =E2=80=9CMembership C=
onnects=E2=80=9D=20
continues and our guest national officer was the national treasurer, John=20
Alter. This proves to be well received as it gives members a friendly fact t=
o=20
approach when walking the halls of USPS. John of course did a super job. His=
update=20
of the trial HQAB district proved very interesting with regards to retention=
.=20
2 of the 3 district had much better retention than the national average. Thi=
s=20
may prove good news for the future as 9 more districts have signed up as of=20
this meeting, making 12 in all. Good job John.
=20
Jan Stein was terrific updating power of one status and handling questions=20
from the audience. Lyle too added success stories and continued the ball rol=
ling=20
has we were way ahead on time. Thank you Jan, Lyle and your team.=20
=20
Laura=E2=80=99s team was well prepared and did terrific inviting Ann Fields=20=

ty Outreach=E2=80=9D=20

talking to the audience and interacting with everyone. This was a big hit. D=
5 D/C=20
Drex Bradshaw brought him from New Jersey all the way in his specially built=
=20
trailer. In fact, Sea-Vester was sworn in by USPS Rules Chairman, Tom Doughe=
rty=20

=20
Ed and Donna, thank you for all your work in organizing 1st Timers. Not a lo=
t=20

=20

is=20

suggestions for future meetings. This proves to be popular and will be conti=
nued=20
during the annual meeting. Well Done.
=20
Table assignments and sales were better, in fact, our sales the best ever,=20
just under $500.00. We are very fortunate to have Carolyn Knaggs doing the=20
management of our membership table. Hal Joe Shafer helped and this was appre=
ciated.=20
Many members helped man the tables and this is key. Our tables will be takin=
g=20

entral=E2=80=9D=20
