Having had the priviledge of working with the Sea Scouts at the Jamboree was
a truly remarkable experience. This is not your typical Scout group. While I
have nothing but good things to say about all scouts, the SeaScouts are
remarkable. For one thing the age range is 14-21 so they are older, more
interested in boating, and boating safely and education. The individuals we
worked with are, of course, the best of the best, granted. But no matter
where the Sea Scouts were from they were wonderful to work with. They want
classes, on a consistent basis, are young enough and smart enough to be able
to take Boat Smart in 2 Saturdays, would appreciate Seamanship right after
that, and then more. Talk to the local Ship. The group in Ohio is
outstanding. If you can provide any help at all do so. I am just sorry I am
not able to make the trip. I would be honored to participate in any
capacity.

We (USPS) have been invited to share space with the SeaScouts again in 2010
for the 100th anniversary of Scouting in the US. What an honor. Charles
Holmes, Ron Sunker, and the entire SeaScout Staff are individuals that I
wish I could have as part of my D/5 and Patuxent River Teams. Hard working,
dedicated individuals that believe in the partnership and want to make it
work. I would like to see more of our members look into this arrangement.
You do not have to be a Ship's Master or Mate..........just be a help,
instructor,expert on call.
They welcome us - and we need their enthusiasm, youth and bright visions.
