There are only three SEAL (Sea Scout Advanced Leadership) courses that =
will be held this year, each with only 6-7 qualifying Sea Scouts -- from =
all over the country -- attending the one-week, at-sea leadership =
course. Each participant must take and pass Seamanship and Navigation =
qualifying examinations prior to even being considered for course =
participation.

The West Coast and Houston SEAL courses have already been held, and the =
East Coast Course will take place 17-25 July (Miami to Key West to Dry =
Tortugas and return).

Tres Rios Power Squadron Members Complete Advanced Sea Scout Leadership =
Course
HOUSTON, Texas. Two Tres Rios Power Squadron Active Members, part of the =
crew of Sea Scout Ship 1371, WHITE SHARK,sponsored by TRES RIOS POWER =
SQUADRON, ( D/13)successfully completed Sea Scout Advanced Leadership =
(SEAL) Training, today.
WHITE SHARK's Boatswain, Ordinary Sea Scout Sean Draper, P, and =
OrdinarySea Scout Jace Hanavan each received the prestigious, silver =
twin-dolphin SEAL pin following their successful completion of the =
week-long, at-sea course. Both are also active Sea Scout members of TRES =
RIOS POWER SQUADRON.
SEAL Training is a petty officer (youth) leadership training course =
offered by the National Sea Scouting Committee. It is a one week, hard =
core leadership course that is conducted at sea.
The course is a leadership course, not a boating or navigation course. =
It covers such topics as preparing, goal setting, organizing, =
supervising, commanding, communicating, training, motivating, and other =
skills that will help in functioning as a leader for the ship and in =
life.
