Good morning everyone!
I periodically write articles for my District newsletter, Cardinal =
Points. I recently submitted the article below. Our R/C Troth read it, =
enjoyed and requested that I send it out to you all using this list. So =
here you go. I hope you enjoy it as much as he did!=20
Rabbit in the Moon
By D/Lt/C Barbara Burdick, AP (Seattle)
Member National Membership Committee
The next time you see the full moon, take a closer look at it. What do =
you see? The "man in the moon" or a silhouette of a "rabbit"? Most of =
you will say the "man in the moon". I know that is what I see.
This is an interesting challenge that you can equate to your vision of =
what you see in your squadron. When you look at your squadron, what do =
you see?=20
Do you see an opportunity to invite new members to a dinner meeting? An =
opportunity to ask a new member to get involved in a small way, a way =
that might lead to taking on more responsibility later? Do you see =
investing in a member?
That's the difference between seeing the "man in the moon" and seeing =
the "rabbit". I am not afraid to say that I mostly see the "man", yet I =
know there are visionaries that see the "rabbit". I am trying really =
hard to see that rabbit. It is hard to look at something you are so used =
to seeing and trying to see it in a different light. (Sometimes I can =
see its ears!)
This is an opportunity to challenge yourself as I will challenge myself. =
Look at your squadron. Look for ways to involve members - new and old. =
Help them to make the "rabbit" the first thing they see instead of the =
"man in the moon".=20
We can all see the "man in the moon", but to keep the squadrons growing, =
it will take seeing that "rabbit". maybe not all the time, but every =
once in a while.=20
So the next time you see a full moon, take a look. What do you see?
