The Power Squadron was an easy way for Ship 5750 to outsource some basic
training issues. We now have the requirement for new youth members to
complete the basic boating course within six months of their joining. They
can complete either the Power Squadron's course, the DNR, or the USCGA
course. Further, our policy with the Squadron is that Scouts may take any
course they offer, and within the Ship, we will buy back their books for
future Scouts' needs. (I am a member of our local Squadron as it makes this
stuff easier to "get done".)
