Phoenix SPS members,

It is approaching that time of the year again when we need to
validate/update the squadron records. You can help us a lot by verifying or updating the
information we have. We have an access limited (only Phoenix SPS members can
access it) online website that let you check the information we have and make
any needed changes. Best of all, any changes submitted there will also be
sent to the District and to National. One stop does it all
Step 1. Go to _www.phoenix-usps.org/roster_
(http://www.phoenix-usps.org/roster) . If you have already logged into a USPS secure website you will see
that you are checked and authorized for access. If not, you will be asked for
your Certificate Number (a capital letter followed by 6 numbers – include
any leading zeros), and the first 5 digits of your zip code. Good – you now are
looking at the Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron Member Listing (Roster).
Step 2. Scroll down the page until you find your name. It will be blue
and underlined.
Step 3. Left click on your name. A new page will open with your
particulars, some of which are in text boxes. You may update/change any of the entries
in the text boxes only. If you need to make a change drag the mouse over
them with the left button down to highlight (the background will turn blue),
then type in the new information.
Step 4. If you have no changes – you are done and at a convenient time
email me at _schloemanb at aol.com_ (mailto:schloemanb at aol.com) and let me know
that all is in order. After you have made any changes, look down near the
bottom of the page under the “Record Last Updated” for the “Update” button.
Left click on that and your changes will be submitted.
Here is what will happen. The online roster will be updated and I will
receive a list of your changes. That list of changes is then entered into the
squadron database and sent to USPS headquarters. Once that step is completed
all of the effected databases will be updated.
You may change your records any time, not just once a year. If your phone
numbers change, you change email addresses, you move, you get a new boat or
sell your present one, just go through steps 1 through 4 above.
Let’s say you need to change information for some other member of your
family. Scroll back to the top of the page and find the link “Logon as a
different member”. The opening screen will have two boxes that you need to fill in.
The “Name” is just that and a selection of member names is available with
the down arrow at the right side of the box. Select whoever and then tab to
the next box “ID Number”. Enter the selected member’s certificate number, as
in Step 1 above. Complete Steps 2 through 4 and you are done.
Thank you for your assistance and let’s keep in touch, and remember, the
online roster always reflects the latest information we have.
Bob Schloeman
Phoenix SPS Database Manager.
