Subject: [Phoenix] Phoenix SPS Bylaws
Fellow Phoenix SPS Members,
The United States Power Squadrons is a dynamic organization ever changing and evolving to meet the needs of its members. Some of the changes get woven into the USPS National Bylaws which govern our operations. As the national bylaws change there are similar changes that need to be incorporated into the district and squadron bylaws to harmonize the operating units of USPS.
Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron last updated their bylaws in November 2005. In March 2008 the National Committee on Rules released the 2008 Squadron Model Bylaws that integrate the changes approved the USPS Governing Board as they relate to Squadron Bylaws.
The Phoenix SPS Rules Committee has reviewed our 2005 Bylaws and recommends that it be amended to bring it up to date. A summary of the changes involve changes to 7 sections, changes to 3 subsections, adding 1 new section, adding 4 new subsections, deleting 1 subsection section and renumbering 1 subsection section.
The deleted subsection is the Thunderbird Award Committee which has been moved to the Phoenix SPS Awards document. This also required the renumbering of the following subsection.
A red line mark up document of the proposed amendments has been prepared. It is on our website in MS Word document format and available for your viewing and comment.
