Take a moment to look at the new squadron organization by going to: _www.usps.org/lc/phoenix/roster_ (http://www.usps.org/lc/phoenix/roster) and then click on View the Squadron's Organization Chart near the top of the opening page. See who amongst your friends that has volunteered to take on a task or tasks. There is lots to do and if you would like to join the efforts to make the squadron an even stronger organization, just contact a bridge member or committee chair and say YES. It will not consume much of your time and the personal satisfaction of contributing will be very rewarding. If you are wearing a uniform and tell them you are working in a booth, you should be let in. Call 602-525-6318 if you have trouble getting in. There are worker badges, but history says if we leave them at the front desk or will call area, they never get returned back to there and then we are stuck. Again, if you are wearing a uniform you can usually get in. Please read through the following instructions. These will also be at the booth. We are at the show to promote Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron as America?s Boating Club, specializing in basic boating education, advanced education, social activities and civic service. We intend to promote: ? Our basic class to each show attendee. ? Show the public how much fun we have in this organization. ? To establish an interest in membership through avenues such as education, possible insurance discounts, social activities, cruises and rendezvous, and overall fun. Our volunteers are scheduled in mostly two hour blocks of time and no less than two persons at the booth at one time. If you plan to wander around the show, please come early or stay later. Please don?t leave the booth during your shift if at all possible. (Bathroom breaks are allowed, but please keep it short out of respect for your partner volunteer) We are trying to promote a professional image. No jeans or shorts please. Name badges should be worn also. There is a sign in sheet at the table so everyone will be sure to be submitted for their merit mark recommendation. Please remember to sign in and out with the time you volunteered at the booth. Please, last person of the day, put all non paper items and names under table out of sight to others. First person will pull out all under table things. We are not selling anything at our booth, only information and friendly persons. Please make sure all visitors to the booth are handed one of our tri-fold handouts to promote who we are and what we do. We will have a paper Boating test on the table also to give you something to talk about with people. Please be as friendly as possible and try to get them to sign up for a basic boating class coming in the near future. Schedules of classes will be on the table. Take names. Please do not keep a persons information on the table. There is a liability for someone?s information being mishandled. Only collect names and phone numbers and which area of town they are in so we can find a class near to them. Thanks again for volunteering. I am sure you will find this as satisfying to your own ego as it will be for all the show attendees. Be a Friend ? Make a Friend ? See you there! The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) encourages drivers to consider alternate routes or give themselves extra travel time while the following freeway restrictions are in place: * Loop 101 closed in both directions between Scottsdale Road and 56th Street (in northeast Phoenix) from 1 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 11) for girder installation at the new 64th Street interchange. Traffic will detour along local streets, including Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and the Greenway-Hayden Loop. Drivers should consider exiting the freeway well ahead of the closure to avoid traffic backups. * Northbound Loop 101 closed between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and McKellips Road from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 11) for overhead sign structure work. Both Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 closed. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Broadway Road closed. Northbound Loop 101 traffic can exit at University Drive, go north on frontage road to westbound Rio Salado Parkway, then north on McClintock Drive and east on McKellips to return to freeway. Drivers also encouraged to use Loop 202 and State Route 51 as alternate freeway routes. * Northbound Loop 101 narrowed to two lanes between Cactus Road and Raintree Drive (in Scottsdale) from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 11) for new merge lane construction. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Cactus and off-ramp at Raintree Drive also closed. Drivers are urged to slow down and merge safely approaching the work zone. * Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane and the northbound on- and off-ramps at Carefree Highway (SR 74) closed from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 11) to open temporary construction detour using new loop ramp. The existing northbound I-17 off-ramp will be closed for approximately one month starting Monday for reconstruction work. Northbound freeway traffic will be able to exit onto Carefree Highway via new loop ramp. Sunday night traffic will detour via the interchanges at Happy Valley and Pioneer roads. * Southbound I-17 narrowed to one lane and the southbound on- and off-ramps at Carefree Highway (SR 74) closed from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 12) to open temporary construction detour using new loop ramp. The existing southbound I-17 on-ramp will be closed for approximately one month starting Tuesday for reconstruction work. Carefree Highway traffic will temporarily access southbound I-17 via new loop ramp. Monday night traffic will detour via the interchanges at Happy Valley and Pioneer roads. * Northbound I-17 closed at Thomas Road near the "Stack" interchange from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 10) for overhead sign work. I-10 ramps to northbound I-17 and northbound I-17 on-ramp at McDowell Road closed. Traffic will use local streets or northbound I-17 frontage road as detour routes. For a complete list of freeway or highway restrictions across Arizona visit ADOT's Travel Information site at www.az511.com or call 5-1-1. The Arizona Department of Transportation is coordinating freeway improvements throughout the Valley. These projects - which include new freeways, additional lanes and interchanges, rubberized asphalt, new landscaping and more - are included in the 20-year Regional Transportation Plan for Maricopa County. More than $15 billion in comprehensive, diverse transportation improvements are funded in the plan through a voter-approved sales tax that became effective in January 2006. More information on ADOT's freeway portion of the Regional Transportation Plan is available at www.azdot.gov/ValleyFreeways. # # # -------------------------------------------------------- Confidentiality and Nondisclosure Notice: This email transmission and any attachments are intended for use by the person(s)/entity(ies) named above and may contain confidential/privileged information. This is a new program that we are taking on that will replace the inland Cooperative Charting program. This program is an enviromental program (hence the name Green). Initially it entails picking up litter and public awareness. We will be blasing the trail. For our first event recall that that we have a trip scheduled for Crown King this coming Saturday. The trip is just to have a little fun. Look for trash oportunites. Also if weather permitting, a few miles beyond Crown King is a lake up at the top of the Bradshaws. If you would like to go, dress warm, bring a trash bag just incase we do make it to the lake. We will meet at Mc Donald's on this coming Saturday. Located at Carefree Highway and Interstate 17. N/E corner. Time: 8:30 No one will be disappointed. The town up at the top is a old mining town. In it's day it was booming As well as other towns that were there close by. rwerner at prodigy.net A RSVP so we know you are planning to come. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
