[Povertybay] Sound Rowers & Rendezvous

Hi,
 
At our May 3 dinner meeting Bob Miller's son Bob gave a very informative
talk about the Sound Rowers organization and their upcoming race on
Saturday, June 9.  It is for manually powered vessels only and leaves from
Manchester State Park, goes around Blake Island and returns to Manchester
State Park.  We have agreed to supply escort boats for the event to help
keep other power boats at a safe distance and to help contestants if they
run into any trouble.
 
The Bremerton Power & Sail Squadron has agreed to help us with the event by
supplying some boats. If we have 8 boats total it should be sufficient.
They also planned on joining us on Friday evening for some beverages and
hors d'oeuvres as well as to get organized for the race on Saturday. 
 
At the dinner meeting I "think" the following members expressed an interest
in participating.

Duane & Mary Quande - Friendship
 
I felt more members might want to spend the weekend out so we have reserved
12 slips plus the party dock at the Port Orchard marina for Friday &
Saturday, June 8/9.  I am sure we can make this an impromptu rendezvous and
have a great time.  We won't need for all the boats to go out for the race
but extra eyes on the boats that do go would be a good thing.
