Hello all -
Our squadron executive committee (Akron, D-7) voted to simplify dues
structure at the squadron level, and mirror National's move at the NYGB. As
a result, I have been trying to integrate the new National Membership Dues
categories into our Squadron and District Dues structure.
I had a good discussion about dues with HQ today, and while they were very
supportive and told me what they knew about the new system, there were some
details that were unclear -- at least to me.
For instance, I understand that the dues structure mailing will go out to
squadrons again this year. National will have 2 categories, "Active" for $
33.60 and something like "members connected with active member", for an
additional $16.80.
Our squadron would like to mirror the National structure, charging one fee
for "Active" and another for "members connected with active member". Since
there is no longer a financial incentive to be an adult family member (the
vote at the NYGB eliminated that dues discount), we would like to move our
family members who qualify to "Additional active".
Now, each active or additional active will pay district dues, and each
active or additional active will pay $1 USPS Educational Fund contribution,
as well.
Our District (D-7) dues structure is pretty simple (one amount for active,
separate amount for each "additional active", nothing for family), although
it doesn't quite mirror national. We may eventually want to change it , as
well.
Our district charges $10 for each active, and $5 for each additional active.
We will not be changing it before the next dues cycle. So, the dues for an
Active with two add'l would be:
$33.60 + 16.80 for National
$10 + $5 + $5 for District
$1 + $1 + $1 for educational fund
Active + "members connected with active member" for squadron
I can figure out each possible combination in my head. But I want to be
sure we structure this correctly at our squadron level, so the proper dues
and fees will be assessed.
Is my description understandable, or am I too confused to explain it
correctly?
With some luck, other squadrons have already figured this out, and we can
"hitchhike" on your solutions !
