We here in D 13 have perhaps a more unique problem of
communicating with all of our Squadron Commanders. D 13 is basically
located in the Los Angeles (and slightly North) area. However, we also have
a Squadron in both Hawaii and Tokyo plus ones in both Salt Lake City and Las
Vegas. (One of our 'local jokes' is that D 13 covers more square miles of
territory than all of the other Squadrons in USPS combined).
Skype is an excellent way to communicate around the world at
practically no expense other than the cost of a little more than $100.00 for
the equipment that connects to your computer. I've been there before-don't
by the cheapest one, because you will eventually buy a better one.
Personally, I have friends in New Orleans that talks with and views their
daughter and their grand children several times each week. The daughter
just happens to be located in Malaysia.
It seems to me that if the Commanders would purchase a "Skype"
(a deductible cost of doing business), there would be a much more efficient
means of communicating with each other.
Hopefully, several folks on this link are very experienced with
Skype. It seems to me to be a subject that could be discussed here. Please
share experiences (suggestions) etc.
Office Depot generally has about a dozen different sets for
sale. Which are the three best? After installation, can you set up
conference calls? Can Power Squadron members get a discount (like we do
with some other pieces of equipment), and if so, where from. Etc, etc. . .
