Richard, Paul and List,
From the replies I have received, the answer to the question of
question is who has precedence, the state or federal rules is: The
States can evidently overrule the FCC and the CFR and tell us to stop
monitoring Channel 16 and only use Channel 9 for hailing purposes and
then switch to a working channel (note this removes Channel 9 as one
of the working channels). Either that or we all must shell out the
bucks and buy a couple of new radios that not only scan all the
channels, but lock into Channel 16 if there is a Distress broadcast
(mine can not do that). Can anyone tell me what make and model of
VHF radio to buy that will automatically lock into Channel 16 when
there a May Day, Pan Pan or Security call is broadcast?? Mine scans
the channels, but goes from one to the next so quickly that I don't
know which broadcast was on which channel.
Obviously, I am one of the few who thinks the action by MD DNR is a
problem. I hope that no one who needs immediate assistance, doesn't
receive it because those who close by were monitoring another channel.
As they say, if you are not part of the solution, then you must be
part of the problem.
This is the end of this psml thread as far as I am concerned!!!
John
